In 1984, NCSI was asked by Ramsey County to establish the first supported retirement program for people with IDD. We’ve been proud to provide these services ever since.

Our goal is to expand options and improve the quality of life for seniors with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We do this by expanding our participants’ relationships, community access, and involvement in and around the Roseville, MN community. Typically, we do this by providing Day Support Services (formerly Day Training and Habilitation).

Day Supports for seniors are individualized, community-based, training, supervision, and support services that help a person develop and maintain personally enriching life skills.   • NCSI has been serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1967. In 1984, NCSI was asked by Ramsey County to establish the first supported retirement program for people with IDDs. We are the smallest provider in Ramsey County and have high client retention, resulting in a close-knit environment. We have six distinct program spaces in our 4,000-square-foot location, where we offer a wide variety of program offerings and multiple choices each day. We are also very involved in the community—going on outings and volunteering. In addition, our leadership team has a combined 68 years of experience working for NCSI, providing stability and continuity for the people we serve.

  • The seniors NCSI serves have a primary diagnosis of Intellectual or Developmental Disability, ranging from Mild to Profound.

    In addition to having IDDs, we serve seniors who have:

    • Physical health concerns (arthritis, cardiac issues, glaucoma/cataracts/macular degeneration, hard of hearing, seizures, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, dementia/Alzheimer’s Disease, asthma)

    • Psychological diagnoses (depression, anxiety disorder, adjustment disorder, schizoaffective disorder)

    • Limited mobility (walker or wheelchair use).
